The PowerBoss is an all-in-one power solution designed for off-grid, camping, or mobile power needs. It features a 2000W inverter, automatic transfer switch, AC charger, MPPT solar charge controller, DCDC charger, and full system monitoring.
Is the PowerBoss easy to install?
Yes, the PowerBoss features a plug-and-play design with no complex wiring or need for professional installation. Simply mount the unit, connect your inputs and outputs, and follow the setup instructions. Ensure there is adequate clearance above and below the unit for proper fan airflow. For optimal performance and longevity, the PowerBoss must be installed in a sheltered, dry, and well-ventilated area.
Is the PowerBoss compatible with other KickAss products?
Yes, the PowerBoss is specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with KickAss Smart Lithium Batteries and Ultra-X Batteries. When paired to these batteries, it provides accurate real-time State of Charge data, system monitoring, and smart alerts.
Does the PowerBoss work with other battery brands?
Yes, the PowerBoss can work with other 12V AGM, GEL, FLOODED, and Lithium battery brands that meet the required specifications. However, advanced features like real-time State of Charge (SOC) integration may not be supported. For full functionality, we recommend using KickAss Smart Lithium Batteries and Ultra-X Batteries.
How do I monitor the PowerBoss?
The PowerBoss monitors all system inputs and outputs to provide real-time feedback on system performance. You can monitor it in three ways:
- Built-in LED display for quick status checks
- KickAss Bluetooth app for full monitoring and control from your phone
- Bluetooth Remote Display Unit for added flexibility and convenience
How do I connect the Bluetooth app to the PowerBoss?
- Connect the Remote Display or Bluetooth Module to the REMOTE port using an RJ45 cable.
- Download the PowerBoss Bluetooth app from the App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app, tap "+", and select PowerBoss from the list.
The app will auto-connect to your device once paired. Ensure the Bluetooth module is within 10 meters of your mobile.
Can the PowerBoss charge from both AC and solar at the same time?
Yes, the PowerBoss can charge from AC and solar at the same time, prioritising solar and using AC only when needed.
Can I replace individual components inside the PowerBoss if something breaks?
The PowerBoss is an all-in-one unit, so internal parts aren’t replaceable. However, it’s covered by a 2-year warranty, and we’ll replace the entire unit if there’s a fault.
Can the PowerBoss recover a Lithium Battery that is in sleep mode?
Yes, the PowerBoss is designed to recover a lithium battery that is in sleep or low voltage protection mode. Lithium Activation Mode can only be activated through AC or alternator inputs, not via the solar input alone.
Do I need an inverter in my PowerBoss to use the AC power/output?
No, the PowerBoss has a built-in 2000W inverter. The inverter output can be turned on and off using the touch interface on the Powerboss LCD, the Remote Display, or the Bluetooth app. Turning off the inverter when not in use will help reduce the standby power consumption.
