Features & Specifications
What is the AquaBoss Rooftop and what is it used for?
The AquaBoss Rooftop is a rugged 26L water tank designed to mount securely to your vehicle's roof rack. It features an onboard 12V pump and is designed to naturally heat water using the sun, giving you convenient access to warm water for showers, washing dishes, and rinsing gear while camping, touring, or overlanding.
Is the AquaBoss Rooftop safe for storing drinking water?
Is the AquaBoss Rooftop safe for storing drinking water?
Yes. The tank is constructed from heavy-duty, food-grade, BPA-free LLDPE. This material is specifically chosen for the safe storage of drinking water.
Will the AquaBoss Rooftop heat stored water?
Yes, the tank uses passive solar heating to heat up water. Its black, UV-stabilised exterior is designed to absorb heat from direct sunlight throughout the day. This naturally warms the water inside, providing comfortable warm water for use in the afternoon and evening.
How durable is the construction?
The AquaBoss Rooftop is built tough for Australian conditions. It features a thick 5mm LLDPE wall for high impact and puncture resistance. The material is also UV-stabilised to prevent cracking and structural damage from long-term sun exposure.

Installation & Setup
What type of roof rack do I need to mount the tank?
The included mounting system is designed to work with roof rack crossbars or platforms that feature an integrated structural screw groove (often called a T-slot or channel). Your crossbar spacing must be adjustable between 52cm and 98cm to align with the tank's mounting base.
How do I wire the 12V pump?
You have two options for connecting power:
- Hardwiring: Use the included bare-wire cable to connect the pump to your vehicle's 12V distribution system. Connect the positive (+) lead to a fused switch on your switch panel and the negative (-) lead to a ground point or negative busbar.
- Cigarette Socket: Use the included 1.8m cable with a cigarette lighter plug for a simple plug-and-play connection to any live 12V socket in your vehicle or on a portable power station. This cable includes a convenient inline switch.
Usage & Operation
How do I get pressurised water from the pump?
Once installed and wired:
- Connect the 5m coiled hose to the tank's brass outlet and the spray gun nozzle.
- Ensure the power cable is connected to the pump and a live 12V source.
- Turn the power on using your switch panel or the inline switch on the cable.
- Squeeze the trigger on the spray gun to start the flow of pressurised water.
Can I use the tank without the 12V pump?
Yes, you can use it as a gravity-fed system. To do this:
- Connect the included gravity-fed tap or your hose and nozzle to the outlet.
- Completely unscrew and loosen the 95mm top filler cap. This allows air to enter the tank and prevents a vacuum from forming, which would stop the water flow.
- Position the tap or nozzle end below the level of the tank to allow gravity to start the water flow.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance
The pump isn't working. What should I check?
If the pump won't turn on, check your power source, all cable connections, the inline switch, and the fuse. If the pump runs but no water comes out, ensure the tank has water, check for an airlock by running the pump with the hose end open, and verify that the volume control knob on the spray gun is open.
How should I clean and maintain the AquaBoss Rooftop?
- Rinse the tank interior periodically through the large 95mm filling port to prevent residue build-up. Never use harsh chemicals, solvents, or fuel.
- Regularly inspect all mounting hardware to ensure it remains tight and secure.
- Avoid running the 12V pump dry for extended periods, as this can damage internal components.
What precautions are needed for freezing weather?
This is critical for preventing damage. If the tank will be exposed to freezing conditions, you must drain it completely. Water expands when it freezes and will cause structural splitting or permanent damage to the tank body and fittings. This type of damage is not covered under warranty.
