All the battery type lights are flashing. What does this mean?
This indicates that the charger has recognised a fault occurring and will display specific lights to advise you of which fault it is. As you can see below, the stage lights will illuminate to show what issue you are experiencing.
The alternator light is flashing. What does this mean?
This is used to indicate what voltage is present at the alternator input and therefore advise you what the charger is able to do at the time.
For example: The 1 second on, 5 second off light indicates that the voltage is well below the cut in voltage. Once the voltage increases, the light will flash 1 second off and 1 second on to indicate it is getting closer to the cut in voltage where it will then stay solid.
The battery type light is staying on when the charger is not operating. Is this normal?
This is completely normal, when the charger is in standby mode it will occasionally flash the battery type light to show it is waiting for an input.
Do I need to connect the ignition override wire?
Most new vehicles are fitted with a smart alternator and will require the ignition cable to be connected to an ignition source in the car. This can be from a fusebox, your ignition barrel or from other sources such as the fuel pump.
To find out if you have a smart alternator, simply contact your local dealer and ask if your model of car is fitted with a smart alternator.
Older vehicles will not require the ignition cable to be connected however it can be connected to ensure the charger can begin operation as soon as possible when the car has started.
What is the long black Temperature probe for and how do I use it?
The long black temperature probe cable is used to measure the temperature of the connected battery.
If the charger senses that the battery is increasing in warmth it will limit the output to ensure the battery does not overheat.
This cable can be connected to the negative terminal of the battery, to the side of the battery with thermally conductive glue or can be cut off if not needed.
WARNING: Once the temperature cable is cut, you are unable to rejoin it to the charger and will result in this feature no longer working.
